Coming from a musical family in the Michigan area, Evan Gutierrez began performing profes-sionally with his father at the age of 13, and tour-ing nationally by the age of 15. From an early time, Evan fused together Latin American musi-cal styles that he loved so dearly with the jazz, R&B and hip hop that surrounded him growing up. Evan quickly rose to the top of the Atlanta live music scene, performing with both locally and internationally known artists and groups. Later attending and graduating from Berklee College of Music as a scholarship student, Evan concentrated on the place where American and Afro-Caribbean mu-sic met, and became one of Boston's busiest latin jazz bandleaders. Having relocated back to south eastern Michigan, Evan now works on a variety of projects pertaining to cultural awareness and social justice issues through music.
