Mike was born on May 17th, 1985. At the age of 11 he was studying piano, but it was at the age of 13 that he dis-covered his passion for the electric bass. He then started a local funk group called "The Curb" for which he wrote and arranged original music. Mike also played electric bass for 3 years in the Nordhoff High School Jazz Band and won state and na-tional competitions all 3 years, playing throughout Southern Califor-nia, as well as in Hawaii and San Fransisco. During his senior year, he organized the first Jazz combo for his High School called "The Equilibrium Jazz Quintet". During that year the group took first place at numerous festivals and Mike won solo awards as well. He also played in concerts with great musicians such as Maynard Ferguson and Anne Kerry Ford. Mike is currently attending the Berklee College of Music on scholarship were he studies electric bass performance. He has continued as a working musician, playing in Boston with his Jazz/funk group and on school breaks in California with the "Equilibrium Jazz Quintet".
