Lifelong musician Marco Godoy, steeped in the folkloric music of his country and skilled in the contemporary music of his generation, has earned a reputation as one of Venezuela's most notable up-and-comers. Learning the cuatro (Venezuelan guitar-like instrument) at age five and enjoying a three year stint in the cast of the famous "Contesta por Tio Simon" television show, Godoy was a veteran per-former before he reached his teens. After acting as musical director for some of Caracas' busiest bands and attending engineering school, Godoy set his sights on an education from the famed Berklee College of Music. Though his plans to attend in 2001 were derailed by 9/11, Godoy continued to work as a producer and performer until he ultimately enrolled in 2003. By '04 Godoy was set apart from his student peers, receiving multiple awards for his compositions from BMI, who quickly signed him as a composer. By the time he had graduated Godoy had shared the stage with Latin music superstars like Irakere, Bobby Carcassas and Ruben Blades. Arriving in L.A. in 2006, Godoy works as a producer, instrumentalist and engineer and continues to collaborate with internationally known artists on Latin music's cutting edge.
